Waltz: A Boutique-Like Luxury Space Reflecting Endless Love

A Mother's Dream Transformed into a Safe Harbor for Her Children

A mother's love for her children is unconditional and selfless. After having raised two children, she hopes to fulfill her dream of designing a house with less weight of responsibility on her shoulders. Instead of cold lines and patterns, high-quality elements are used to create a boutique-like luxury space. The house will become a safe harbor for the children, where they can always come home and feel the warmth of the family.

The design of Waltz, a residential house created by Hsueh Yu Yeh, is truly unique and captivating. The softness of curves in the space reduces the sharpness of corners, symbolizing the happiness of the family and giving a scene a sense of roundness. The image of a "circle" in the canopy is combined with soft colors and an obscure glow, resembling a bright moon guiding the hard-working children on their way home and reflecting the endless love for them. The use of wood in the large area brings a tender atmosphere, like a towering tree trunk, amidst the firmness of the room.

Waltz showcases a remarkable realization of design, incorporating wood floors, iron, titanium-plated metal, wood veneer, brushed veneer, marble, exposed concrete, and leather. The interior design area spans approximately 330 square meters and includes an entrance, living room, dining room, kitchen, storeroom, and three bedrooms with two bathrooms.

The design team faced several challenges in bringing Waltz to life. One of the main challenges was creating a relaxed and smooth flow with a large number of curved surfaces extending from the public area to the bedrooms. This was successfully achieved, resulting in a harmonious and inviting space. Additionally, the team seamlessly integrated simple furniture with warm brown veneer, extending a touch of modernity into the house without losing its warmth.

The interaction within the design is carefully crafted to enhance the overall experience. The vista of the entrance, with its hollow titanium-plated metal and pure white silver fox marble, lends an extravagant and restrained texture to the scene. The composite material structures the main TV wall, with different colors of wood above and below echoing each other. The lacquered iron parts of the belt are in geometric trapezoids, connecting with the silver fox marble main wall and guiding the visual movement. A wooden grille frames the back wall of the sofa, creating an atmosphere of tranquility. To add a touch of modernity, a contemporary painting by Yoshitomo Nara is displayed in the home.

Waltz was completed in September 2020 in New Taipei City, Taiwan. The design incorporates sustainable and environmentally friendly materials, ensuring a comfortable, healthy, and safe environment. Its exceptional design and attention to detail have earned Waltz the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that contribute to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.

Waltz, with its unique blend of luxury, warmth, and symbolism, stands as a testament to a mother's love and the power of design to create spaces that reflect the essence of a family's bond.
